Added a check for manager exit condition and adjusted timeout handling.

Re-checks for pidfile just before arming pidfile and timeout eloops, in case manager exited super fast.

Quality of life speed boost if we ask manager to exit without any active interfaces. Otherwise caller client might wait 50s unnecessarily.

Walkthrough

After signaling a process outside the SIGHUP and SIGUSR1 cases, main checks the PID file. If the file is absent, main exits successfully. If another read error occurs, main calls dhcpcd_pidfile_timeout immediately. If the file remains, main schedules the callback after 100 ms.

main exits successfully when the PID file is absent, calls dhcpcd_pidfile_timeout immediately for other read errors, and schedules it after 100 ms when the file remains.

A transient pidfile read error can delay manager shutdown by up to 50 seconds; this is bounded but should be corrected.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "Enhance timeout handling for manager exit" matches the main change. The diff adds a pidfile re-check before arming the pidfile and timeout eloops, and it changes how the timeout is scheduled when the manager exits. "Enhance" is somewhat broad, but the title still refers to the actual change.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description says the PR adds a manager-exit check and adjusts timeout handling. It explains the pidfile re-check before the eloops are armed, which matches the src/dhcpcd.c change. It also gives the speed-up reason for exiting when no interfaces are active. The description is related to the changeset.

🟡 Minor · Do not treat every pidfile read error as manager exit. · dhcpcd.c:2432-2435

src/dhcpcd.c:2432-2435
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Do not treat every pidfile read error as manager exit.

pidfile_read returns -1 for open, read, lseek, and PID parsing errors, not only when the manager removes its pidfile. If the manager remains running and the second read gets such an error, this branch returns success immediately. That violates -x's documented wait-until-exit behavior. The previous callback preserved the 50-second timeout because eloop_start resets exitnow; retain that path for non-ENOENT errors.

Suggested fix
-			if (pidfile_read(ctx.pidfile) == -1)

-			eloop_timeout_add_msec(ctx.eloop, 100,

+					goto exit_success;
+				dhcpcd_pidfile_timeout(&ctx);
+			} else
+				eloop_timeout_add_msec(ctx.eloop, 100,

Review comment at @src/dhcpcd.c around lines 2432 - 2435:
Update the pidfile check in the `-x` wait flow so only an `ENOENT` error from
`pidfile_read` takes the immediate-success path; for other read errors, preserve
the existing timeout behavior by invoking `dhcpcd_pidfile_timeout` and
continuing to wait. Keep the normal retry scheduling when the pidfile read
succeeds.
