Yml contributors use canonical MSX PR-format guidance instead of a repository-owned PR template. Module consumers need no configuration, code, or invocation changes; PowerShell behavior and supported caller contracts are unchanged.

This is Yml's local delivery for campaign no-pr-template-files. The frozen canonical policy and separately owned central removals are unmerged, so this draft does not claim that GitHub's inherited defaults or the campaign-wide outcome are already integrated.

Removed: Repository-owned PR template

Yml no longer carries .github/pull_request_template.md, and no automatic single-file or multiple-choice PR-template variant replaces it. PR authors follow the existing canonical PR-format link in CONTRIBUTING.md; no retained instruction depends on the deleted path. Other contribution guidance, community files, module source, framework configuration, and issue forms are unchanged.

GitHub may continue offering inherited organization defaults until the separate central removals merge. The frozen Repository Standard: No PR-template files owns the prohibition; PR Format: Complete description example owns the actual record, not a stored or inherited scaffold. Both references identify immutable MSXOrg/docs source bc03a5992615f65d1d5346dc48e7506e80b8b6ca, verified ready but unmerged in MSXOrg/docs#209.

Technical details
  • Scoped PR comparison: Yml base 93d2656563a719d99416b9e13a05e65f6f815498 to candidate 1d3b189684426fedb706fe885caf51f6a1d45051. Exact diff: one removed .github/pull_request_template.md, mode 100644, source blob ff2067e739e6d90bfa95905df89fa752cccd2e83; 0 additions, 36 deletions. The focused commit is Remove repository pull request template.
  • Verification: committed, workspace, and complete published-head inventories contain zero automatic PR templates. git diff --check 93d2656563a719d99416b9e13a05e65f6f815498 HEAD passes. CONTRIBUTING.md is byte-identical to the base; its canonical PR-format link returned HTTP 200 with the audience-first and incremental release-range guidance. The frozen ownership and complete-description-example sections were read directly from the immutable source above.
  • Exact-head CI run 41244135495 completed successfully at 1d3b189684426fedb706fe885caf51f6a1d45051: Plan and repository lint pass; build, module/source tests, coverage, and both Publish-Module and Publish-Site are skipped. No module test is represented as executed or passed.
  • Publication safety: the unchanged caller remains Process-PSModule v6.1.16 at 1653be8d36607d9535f600278c44789979477813. Its effective important-file patterns are ^src/ and ^README\.md$; neither matches this diff, so this run enables no publisher. Draft state alone is not the guard. No workflow dispatch, publisher execution, real prerelease, tag, merge, auto-merge, label, permission, or caller/validator change is performed.
  • Release-contract finalization remains held: the existing native producer is not treated as unmanaged, and frozen canonical release:* mapping or required decision-check compatibility is not assumed for its released legacy interface. No unsupported label or producer upgrade is introduced as a workaround, no final release decision is presented as finalized, and no version or publication baseline is manufactured for this non-publishing scoped change.
  • Implementation-plan progress: all four delivery steps in Remove Yml's repository PR templates #9 are complete. The Task remains open for review and merge. Issue-convergence scope was open Yml delivery issues and related template/dependency work: no additional issue converges, and the unrelated Bump PSModule/Process-PSModule/.github/workflows/workflow.yml from 6.1.16 to 8.0.7 #8 dependency PR is unchanged.
  • Integration gates remain: this PR stays draft and main-targeting; frozen Pull request guidance describes complete source-bound records MSXOrg/docs#209 and the two central-default removals below are still unmerged. Successful CI on this exact source does not authorize merge or establish that those source/default removals are live. Refresh source, head, CI, and producer/safety evidence before any later readiness decision.

Current verification at head 1d3b189: local/committed/published template inventories and the retained canonical PR-format HTTP/content check pass. Process-PSModule run 41244135495 has passed Plan; repository lint is still in progress. Build, module/source tests, coverage, and both Publish-Module and Publish-Site are skipped, confirming the pinned v6 important-file publication guard for the exact deletion-only diff. No label or auto-merge request is present. All implementation-plan steps in #9 are complete; the Task remains open and the PR remains draft for review/merge. Campaign-wide source work in MSXOrg/docs#209, MSXOrg/.github#8, and PSModule/.github#82 is still open and is not represented as live.

Updated the actual PR title/body and native Task correspondence to immutable MSXOrg/docs bc03a5992615f65d1d5346dc48e7506e80b8b6ca: Repository Standard owns the no-file rule, and PR Format owns the complete-description example and record. MSXOrg/docs#209 is verified ready but unmerged; central defaults remain unmerged drafts. The source head remains 1d3b189, with successful exact-head CI and both publishers skipped. No label, readiness, source, or workflow changes were made; source-integration and legacy-producer release-contract finalization gates remain held.

What changed in this PR

Removes Yml’s repository-owned PR template so contributors use the canonical PR-format guidance already linked in CONTRIBUTING.md. PowerShell behavior and caller contracts are unchanged.

Changes:

  • Deletes the local template without adding a replacement.
  • Leaves organization-level default removals to separate PRs; inherited templates may still appear until those changes merge.
