Summary

Role permission lists and other scrolling surfaces still displayed browser-default scrollbars, while several hints used native title tooltips. Replace the role and permission pick-list scrollbars with a shared Radix ScrollArea and theme remaining document, table, editor and navigation scrollbars using the application's light and dark tokens.

Replace native title tooltips throughout account, user, application and role views with shared accessible hints. Share a custom search clear button, normalize input appearance, remove native textarea resize handles, and route student verification errors through the application's existing feedback.

Validation

  • pnpm exec vp check — formatting, lint and type checks passed.
  • pnpm exec vp test — 331 passed, 117 skipped by configuration.
  • pnpm exec vp run build — production build and server bundle checks passed.
  • Local browser checks: role permission scrollbar in both themes and keyboard scrolling; custom tooltip; search clearing and focus restoration; mobile user-table scrolling and application wizard layout.

Before / after

Captured from the PR base (720e8bc) and implementation (c11fbfc) with the same seeded account, data, scroll position and 1100 × 800 viewport. Only the development-tools launcher is hidden.

Role detail — dark theme

The permission list now uses a rounded, themed Radix scrollbar instead of the browser's scrollbar and arrow buttons. The description field also no longer displays the native resize handle.

Before After
Role detail before, dark theme Role detail after, dark theme

Role detail — light theme

The same scrollbar follows the application's light-theme colors.

Before After
Role detail before, light theme Role detail after, light theme

User search

The browser-dependent search decoration is replaced by the shared clear button, which restores focus to the input after clearing.

CodeRabbit blocks several paths by default. You can override this behavior by explicitly including those paths in the path filters. For example, including **/dist/** will override the default block on the dist directory, by removing the pattern from both the lists.

Walkthrough

The change adds shared tooltip, search, and scroll-area components and updates related styling. Account, RBAC, OIDC, user, and role interfaces adopt these components. The student-verification form disables browser-native validation.

Associate the validation error with the focusable viewport.

When PickList supplies an error, aria-describedby goes to ScrollAreaPrimitive.Root through ...props. Keyboard focus goes to Viewport, which does not receive that description. Forward the description ID to Viewport so its validation message remains associated when users return to the list.

Major · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Do not make every Hint child a tab stop.

When the users table renders status marks, tabIndex={0} adds a stop for each mark in every row. Keyboard users must pass those noninteractive marks to reach pagination. Make focusability conditional; retain native focus on buttons and links, and keep the existing screen-reader status text for noninteractive marks. Radix places trigger behavior on the child when asChild is set. (radix-ui.com)
