Summary

  • Tells the X MCP guide that chat_media_download needs media.write and returns X Chat ciphertext, not a viewable file.
  • A media.write 403, or that tool missing while other X tools work, is a reconnect, not a new Project or App.
  • The scope is already requested in mcp.json. Installs that signed in before it was added still need to sign in again.

Test plan

  • The guide names media.write next to chat_media_download.
  • mcp.json still requests media.write.
  • Plugin description is unchanged, so the marketplace listing still matches plugin.json.

chat_media_download needs media.write and returns ciphertext. A missing tool or a media.write 403 means reconnect, not a new Project or App.

Hey @vaulpannx, a note on sequencing rather than content: this now conflicts with main, and @santiagomed has #719 (2.8.0) and #728 (2.8.1) open on the same three files from the X side, both also conflicting with main at the moment. Since the X plugin's version and CHANGELOG are owned by the X team, the practical order is for #719/#728 to land first and this to rebase on top as 2.8.2 (or be folded into one of them, if Santiago prefers); the Media scope section itself reads correctly against the current README, which already lists media.write.
