…atus Adds phase-level status tracking to ObservedPhase: - Status (PhaseStatus enum): Invalid, Pending, Reconciling, WaitingForAssertions, Available, Unknown, Superseded, TearingDown, TeardownComplete - CompletedAt: timestamp of first Available transition - Message: phase-level human-readable context Introduces the PhaseStatus type and four new Ready-condition reason constants. Updates status.go to compute and populate all three fields on every reconcile and teardown pass. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

Use a value type for the optional completedAt struct.
CompletedAt is an optional metav1.Time struct, but this declaration uses a pointer. Change it to a value with json:"completedAt,omitzero". Update completion-time checks and generated code together so an unset timestamp remains omitted. As per coding guidelines, “Do not use pointers for optional struct fields (OpenShift convention); use value types with omitzero.”

Fix the optional Message field’s zero-value contract.
api-diff-lint rejects this optional string because its empty value is valid but the validation is incomplete. Use a representation that distinguishes an omitted message from an explicitly empty message, then update the status writer and generated artifacts. This clears the reported optionalfields failure. api-diff-lint rejects both ObjectDetails and Messages because neither has a listType marker. Add +listType=atomic to each field and regenerate the schemas. Backfill legacy phase statuses before every status update.
status is now required for each observedPhases entry. Some early reconcile paths call markAsNotReady and return before status.FromReconcile populates phase statuses. A legacy object with a phase that lacks status can therefore fail the subsequent Client.Status().Update on API servers that do not ratchet this newly required field.
Backfill legacy entries before these early returns, or keep status optional until migration is handled. Add an upgrade test for an existing object with a legacy observedPhases entry.

Limit Messages to the CRD maximum of 17 entries.
ObjectStatus.Messages allows at most 17 items (+kubebuilder:validation:MaxItems=17). objectMessages adds one message per entry in result.Messages for each failing probe type, plus one message for a collision. Nothing limits the total.
A probe built from many progression probes or assertions can return more than 16 failure messages for one object. The API server then rejects the whole Status().Update. The status write keeps failing while the object stays in that state, and no other status field is saved either.
Limit the list after it is built. Do the same for any other place that fills os.Messages.

Fix the Available vs Ready mismatch in the API docs.
The enum and constant use Ready (PhaseStatusReady = "Ready"). Several doc comments name the same state Available:
- the
statusfield list (Line 577-579) completedAt(Line 583-585)objectDetails(Line 616-617)
oc explain and the generated CRDs copy these comments. Users then see a value that the API rejects.
The PhaseStatusInvalid comment on Line 710 also refers to an error field. No such field exists. The phase-level field is message.
Rename Available to Ready in the comments, or rename the enum value. Then regenerate the CRDs, manifests, and API reference.
