Closes #944

handlebars is a transitive development dependency (@semantic-release/commit-analyzer and @semantic-release/release-notes-generator → conventional-changelog-writer → handlebars). This resolves the Dependabot security alerts for GHSA-p8wg-vrv2-v86f, GHSA-8r5x-fm3f-whwj and GHSA-xw65-4hp5-5hc7.

Changes

Compatibility Notes

None of these affects this repository: conventional-changelog-writer registers the .releaserc header, commit and footer templates as string partials and compiles the string main template (template.hbs) with noEscape: true, and the templates iterate arrays only.

Breaking Changes

None

Code Changes Required

None — the upgrade is a drop-in replacement.

🚀 Thanks for opening this pull request! We appreciate your effort in improving the project. Please let us know once your pull request is ready for review.

Tip

  • Keep pull requests small. Large PRs will be rejected. Break complex features into smaller, incremental PRs.
  • Use Test Driven Development. Write failing tests before implementing functionality. Ensure tests pass.
  • Group code into logical blocks. Add a short comment before each block to explain its purpose.
  • We offer conceptual guidance. Coding is up to you. PRs must be merge-ready for human review.
  • Our review focuses on concept, not quality. PRs with code issues will be rejected. Use an AI agent.
  • Human review time is precious. Avoid review ping-pong. Inspect and test your AI-generated code.

Note

Please respond to review comments from AI agents just like you would to comments from a human reviewer. Let the reviewer resolve their own comments, unless they have reviewed and accepted your commit, or agreed with your explanation for why the feedback was incorrect.

Caution

Pull requests must be written using an AI agent with human supervision. Pull requests written entirely by a human will likely be rejected, because of lower code quality, higher review effort and the higher risk of introducing bugs. Please note that AI review comments on this pull request alone do not satisfy this requirement. Our CI and AI review are safeguards, not development tools. If many issues are flagged, rethink your development approach. Invest more effort in planning and design rather than using review cycles to fix low-quality code.

Walkthrough

The lockfile updates Handlebars from 4.7.9 to 4.7.10, records the new tarball and integrity hash, and raises its minimist range to ^1.2.8. The legacy dependency entry no longer lists uglify-js under requires.

Explanation

Issue #944 has one active direct target. Its only coding requirement is to bump handlebars from 4.7.9 to 4.7.10. The whole-PR diff against the merge base confirms this. In package-lock.json, the node_modules/handlebars entry changes from version 4.7.9 to 4.7.10, with the new resolved URL (handlebars-4.7.10.tgz) and integrity hash. The legacy top-level dependencies entry for handlebars receives the same version, resolved, and integrity changes. No other coding requirement exists in the issue. The release notes and compatibility notes are context, not requirements. Package.json shows no diff against the merge base, which is expected for a transitive dependency. The AI-generated summary states that uglify-js is removed from the legacy requires list. The diff does not show this. The uglify-js line remains as an unchanged context line. This discrepancy does not affect the requirement, because the version bump is present. No automated test is requested by the issue.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The whole-PR diff changes only package-lock.json. Every hunk relates to the handlebars 4.7.10 bump. The hunks change the handlebars version, resolved URL, and integrity hash in both lockfile sections. They add "license": "MIT" to the handlebars entry, which is npm metadata for the new package version. They change the handlebars requirement on minimist from ^1.2.5 to ^1.2.8, which matches the dependency range declared by handlebars 4.7.10 and the minimist bump listed in the PR description. No package.json, source, test, or unrelated dependency change appears in the diff. The changes stay within the scope of #944.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No functions found in the changed files to evaluate docstring coverage. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Full details: Security Check

Explanation

PASS. The PR changes only package-lock.json. It upgrades the transitive, development-only Handlebars dependency from 4.7.9 to 4.7.10 and updates minimist to 1.2.8. No application code or templates change. Existing Handlebars templates only render semantic-release metadata and commit data. No new security-sensitive code pattern is introduced, and no stale Handlebars 4.7.9 entry remains.
