I would like to open preview in new block with double click instead of right click and choosing the option
I would like that to be configurable in settings eg

I ran into this same need and implemented it as an opt-in setting:
preview:openfileinnewblock(bool, defaults to false, so current behavior is unchanged). When enabled, double-click or Enter on a file in the directory preview opens it in a new preview block (same as the "Open Preview in New Block" context menu item); directories still navigate in place.Opened #3440 with the implementation — happy to adjust the key name (e.g. the
