Problem

Python 3.15 applications cannot use the maintained Python container images.

Cause

The build matrix and pinned base images stop at Python 3.14.

Solution

Build Python 3.15.1 production, development, and macOS development images for amd64 and arm64. Move the floating Python 3 and latest aliases to 3.15 while continuing to build Python 3.11–3.14.

Implementation

  • Pin the multi-platform python:3.15.1-alpine base digest.
  • Use 3.15.1 for the default local build and document the new image tags.
  • Keep the existing image-revision publication workflow.

Validation

  • Wodby CLI local arm64 builds passed for all three variants.
  • Workspace contract, configuration, development-tool, and offline Gunicorn reload checks passed.
  • Workflow lint and all six version/variant/architecture tag checks passed.
  • Python, Flask, and FastAPI boilerplate tests passed on 3.15.1 (7, 6, and 7 tests).
  • The development-image integration suite passed with Django 6.1.2, including HTTP, static files, SSH, and cron.

Rollout

Publish the next image revision after merging and passing the complete architecture and vulnerability scan matrix. The first exact-version aliases should be 3.15.1-r0 and 3.15.1-dev-r0. Service manifests must wait for those tags to exist.

Related service changes: Python, Django, Flask, and FastAPI.

Build Python 3.15.1 from a pinned multi-platform Alpine base for production, development, and macOS development variants. Move the floating Python 3 aliases to 3.15 while retaining the maintained older versions.
